With the huge changes to SSBP around the reservoir rebuild, some of our gravel staging area has been altered due to a new perimeter road. The result is a 4-5 foot drop-off just outside the SORCE container south access door! To mitigate this, the south container was moved to be parallel with the north container. Subsequent grading with fresh crush around the area will make for a solid footing.
On Dec 4, Darren, Mike, Peter and Barb, with the help of a small PCL Construction crew, emptied the container, container repositioned, and all materials returned. It was a great time to clean out the accumulation of a wide assortment of junk! Some fresh paint in the spring will finish the job.
All SORCE events up to June 15th have been cancelled in line with Cycling BC's Covid-19 guidance. We should receive an update from them in the coming days and will update this site as needed. Here is a snapshot of where we are at at this point.

The Daryl Evans Racing JunkYard Cross CX 2019 was a soggy sucess! In typical cyclocross fashion, the clouds unleashed heavy rains at times to make the course especially challenging - but with smiles all around as this truly brings out the very best of CX racing!
285 racers took to the 3km course around South Surrey Athletic Park over 5 races. The Novice Men taking the start at 9:30, the Intermediate Men at 10:15 leading to the Womens race at 11:00. The kids, took to the mini course at noon run by Cycling BC's iRide program teaching youngsters the world of cycling and graciously sponsored by series sponsor, Kazlaw. The older kids rode the full course at 12:30 to get a taste of what CX can entail.
The Master Men 40+ B and Single Speeders took to the deteriorating course at 1:00, but the true test was the Elite and Master Men 40+ A race when the clouds burst a full hour deluge to really spice up the action! The Elites very much earned their keep with cash prizes truly deserving of their efforts! WELL DONE!
Title sponsor Darly Evans Racing showed their full colours fielding racers in every race. Thank you for your financial support, help designing the course, and great support throughout the day! The Bike Zone, our gold sponsor, provided full mechanical support at their tent, which also had display bikes from Cannondale. The Bike Zone provided a generous selection of swag door prizes which recipients gladly crowded in the rain for the opportunity to win! BC Bike Race, Easton Cycling, Tairin Wheels, Sea2Sky and Nitro Lube also provided a great selection of swag door prizes. Cypress Mountain provided 4 Nordic Ski Passes! Thank you!
The Red Racer Beer Garden was a busy place, located right in front of one of the courses tricky sections with barriers for the exhausted riders to leap over. The exuberant crowd while intending "supportive accolades" was in fact a Heckle Fest, but in good taste and good fun all around.
Thank you to all our fabulous sponsors and supporters. Daryl Evans Racing, The Bike Zone, Red Racer and Beer League, BC Bike Race, Double R Rentals, Clif Bar, Nitro Lube, Tairin Wheels, Easton Cycling, Physiomoves Physiotherapy, Scott Robarts Photography, FreshSlice Pizza, Kazlaw, and the City of Surrey.
