Volunteers at the last trail day in Invergarry bike park

The recent SORCE trail day in Invergary bike park was a huge success. The day was devoted to hammering out the last few details before we ramp up for the next phase of construction in Invergarry... That's right: an intermediate jump trail is coming to Invergarry. More on that soon... Aaaand, back to the trail day: The last Flow Form lip was moved into position, and the trail was cleared of debris. we logged 44 hours of volunteer time with the thirteen volunteers who showed up to help. We had Daniel from Alpine bike parks show up to guide the day.   We bbq'd some burgers and smokies and slammed some gatorades and water after the hard work was done... Then it was on to a great session of riding the new trail! Massive thanks to all the hard working volunteers and committed riders in Invergarry! Join SORCE bike club this weekend in Invergarry as we finish up work on the new Shovel Buster freeride trail!

Alpine Bike Parks & Dustin Gilding will be guiding the trail day this Sunday February 2 at Invergarry Bike Park in North Surrey. Food and drinks will be provided by SORCE. We look forward to seeing you all there.

11 hardy souls used shovels, picks, saws and hammers to rebuild the squirrel catcher that starts the technical section of the Junk Yard Dog at post #11. This has already proven to be a challenge for some to clear cleanly, a fine line between riding too fast to roll or not fast enough to drop!

A replacement bridge over a creek on the BLT was completed and now sports an arch to liven up the feature.
More structure work is planned so stay tuned for more trail days. More photos here

Jordan, Bryson(taking the photo) and I rode at Latimer Lake Park on Saturday.  The weather was about as rainy as it gets here on the coast of BC. We did a little Srava-ing while we were there on the SORCE club ride. Just goes to show you how much riding there is still to be had at a former Surrey mountain bike destination. The 2013 SORCE annual general meeting was held last night at the Surrey Centre Library. SORCE president Jordan presented the year's accomplishments and outlined the bike club's goals for 2014. Elections were held and some new faces joined the group of directors. TEN jerseys were also raffled away to individuals and families who signed up for a 2014 membership (Remember: you get a pair of SORCE socks and 10% off parts and accesories at all participating bike shops with membership).  SORCE would like to extend a big thanks to all the volunteers who made 2013 such an exciting and productive year! We are looking forward to a great year ahead in 2014! See you on the trails!
